We recently completed project EQUINOX, the largest domestic heat pump flexibility project ever carried out.
Over three winters, National Grid set out to understand how heat pumps could benefit rather than add additional strain to our electricity network.
EQUINOX sought to address the challenges electricity distribution network operators face with the electrification of heat, while meeting the needs of all consumers, including the fuel poor and vulnerable.
