Procurement Vision
“To provide National Grid Electricity Distribution with world class, accredited, procurement”
NGED sources goods and services each year ranging from excavating and cable laying services to the purchase of our vehicle fleet, distribution transformers, cable, plant, machinery and personal protective equipment. NGED contracts are often split into multiple lots to serve the differing requirements of our four licence companies within the Midlands, South West of England and South Wales, multi-sourcing for critical services or equipment with a varied contract length.
Procurement Policies
- We acquire quality, value for money goods and services in full compliance with the Utilities Contract Regulations (UCR)
- We use the Achilles Utilities Vendor Database (UVDB) to source suppliers for our goods and services requirements
- Subject to cost and quality considerations, we engage with reputable suppliers and contractors to acquire goods and services
- The Procurement Team engage with suppliers and contractors who share NGED’s values for the highest standards in Safety, Health and Environment, observing modern slavery and equality laws
- We treat all suppliers and contractors fairly, evenly and with honesty. As part of our commitment we have signed up to the Prompt Payment Code – our results are published on the GOV.UK website
- As every asset we purchase and every contract we establish adds value and contributes towards the key business objectives of the ED2 plan we have aligned our processes across NGED to enable the successful delivery of the 2023-2028 Business Plan under RIIO-ED2.
Procurement Team
Our Procurement Team are fully supported by NGED in attaining full membership of the Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply (CIPS).
We adhere to the Ethical Code of the Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply.
